Maker

Are you a supporter of locally-made natural products? Do repetitive tasks and structured work processes make you happy? If so, come join our production team as a Maker!

YYC Beeswax is looking for a person to create, label, package, and ship our honey products to customers across North America. The ideal person will also keep an eye on inventory levels and to provide their input into enhancing our production methods.

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Make natural honey products with our proprietary recipes
  • Work with the latest manufacturing equipment in our field
  • Pick, pack, weigh, and label shipments for our awesome couriers
  • Hand deliver personally made packages to local customers
  • Give input and share ideas to help the team enhance work processes

Beekeeper (Filled for 2021 season)

Do you love spending time outside? Come work in nature’s playground with YYC Beeswax!

We are looking for fearless Beekeepers who enjoy the outdoors and want to become a key part of our expanding team for the May – October season. In particular, we are searching for a person who is interested in natural products, maintaining bee hives, and harvesting agricultural products in the Greater Calgary area. It would also be a positive to find a person who enjoys talking with property owners and the general public to share what we are doing at YYC Beeswax.

For this position, we think it’s important that you are:

  • A physically fit outdoor enthusiast
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
  • A good driver with a valid license and clean driving record
  • Who has access to a safe road-worthy vehicle
  • Able to walk, stand, bend, lift, crouch, and kneel
  • Known for your safety consciousness and manual dexterity
  • And possess strong mechanical skills

It’s an added bonus if you have:

  • Experience working in an agricultural environment
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • And friendly personable demeanor

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Keep our bees safe by conducting Health Checks to keep swarming and environmental threats away
  • Work with the latest honey flow indicators and beekeeping equipment
  • Feed our bee population with delicious syrup and pollen mixtures
  • Assemble, split, super, and move our apiary equipment to different field locations
  • Harvest and extract pollen, propolis, and other agricultural products
  • Retire and replace Queen Bees who have worked hard to lead thriving colonies
  • Insulate bee hives to keep them warm before the onset of frigid winter weather
